Game lags at strange specific points... no idea why. Please help!

I've been playing FIFA 15 on my brand new PC that all you wonderful people helped me put together. The game runs incredibly smooth always on it's max settings. In game I'm getting around 250 FPS with occasional drops to 150.

The problem is though that occasionally the game will just stop for about half a second then continue on. This only seems to happen when the goalie needs to make a save or attempts a save. No other time at all. There is no frame drop or anything. I'm really at a loss. The problem persists even when i limit it to 30 fps or 60 fps. Any ideas? experience with this problem?

Run the task manager / performance monitor and see if your cpu usage or hard drive use spikes during a lag ... Just run it in the background while playing the game.

You could try using a program like Process lasso to limit the game to use only Physical cores.

Options>CPU>Affinities

My CPU usage does occasionally go up to 100% could that be it?

If Windows 7, unparking cpu cores may help.

People have been unparking cores for BF4 and have found it to be much less stuttery, perhaps it might help you with FIFA too.

Theres mention for Windows 7 only but seems people have it working with Windows 8 as well.

Yes the CPU reaching 100% will lag your entire system, this could be your problem IF and ONLY IF, the CPU is running at 100% at the exact time a goalie tries to save and you get the lag.... Does the lag hit at the EXACT same time everytime? Or are their time differences? But yes to answer your question, CPU hittin 100% will def have a impact on gaming performance while the CPU is at 100%

Yup, when the CPU usage reaches 100% it will lower resources on games.

I have not checked to see if they happen at that exact moment. The lag only happens when the goalkeeper comes into it and is it possible that action is pushing the CPU too far?

it COULD be, or it could be a bug within the game itself, alot of games have poorly structured PC porting. I would suggest opening your task manager, go to Performance, then resource monitor, let that run as you play, right after the lag happens go look at your resource monitor has spikes around the time it happened and report back. sorry so long for the reply.
