Will a MSI R9-290 be able to handle Skyrim with RealVision at 20FPS or higher with an i5-4690?

I see many 100`s of videos on YouTube of people playing skyrim with an R9-270, GTX 60 or GTX 770 and they get around 60FPS on RealVision ENB i thought i should get more considering the R9-290 is way better than these cards? The guy that made RealVision ENB used a card the same performance as an R9-270 and he got 60FPS.

The people must be running the performance version of the realvision enb which takes a much less powerful system to run it.I run the performance version and get a stable 60fps on my GTX 770

Yeah you can DEFINITELY get over 30fps on skyrim with that. I had an I5-3570K with a GTX660 GPU which is around 40% less powerful than an R9 290 and i get 25-35fps on skyrim with max/ultra settings at 1080p with K-ENB which is the most powerful ENB out there pretty much and sucks up way more fps than realvision, with ENB's like Realvision or The Wilds i got 40ish fps with my 660 with over 50 texture mods and crap installed. So an R9 290 would easily get you close to 60fps with realvision enb at 1080p, you could even go 1440p and still get 30-35fps.

And note that the R9 290 is not "way better than" a GTX770, the R9 series was actually made to compete with the GTX700 series cards, the best R9 290 chips with the highest clock speeds like the sapphirw tri-x is around 5-8% stronger than a 770 depending on what brand you get and whatnot, and the R9 290X is around halfway between the 770 and 780 in power, maybe a little closer to the 780.

But the 290 is pretty cheap at only $260ish, but honestly i would reccomend you go for a GTX970 if you can afford it, it's overall equal to a gtx780 in what fps you get and when overclocked can actually BEAT a 780, and also has things like directX12 and MFAA anti-aliasing etc.. if the $330-370 price tag on the 970's is too high then by all means get an R9 290 but be warned you may have to upgrade your power supply as well since the R9 290 takes around a 650 watt PSU to run vs a 500watt for gtx970 (except the gigabyte windforce or G1 which takes 550, and the gigabyte OIX mini takes just 400 watts) since AMD cards are always power hungry and run hotter than nvidia cards, which is pretty much how they can offer them cheaper than nvidia. It's the same way with their processor's, amd cpu's are always higher wattage and hotter running than intel, but that doesn't make them bad of course. Just make sure you have the correct power supply and cooling to run them.

I just got a gtx970 and the performance difference is amazing compared to my gtx660

I do not think K-ENB is the best because i have never even heard of it and it only hase like just a thousand downloads so it must not be that popular any. Well i wanted to say thanks guys for al of the help! I get a stable 50FPS with EVERY mod Real Vision ENB asks for and also 98 extra graphical/Texture mods and 2 follower mods. For somereason i get 30FPS when at Winterhold so idk whats up with that. It did crash alost all the time because i was using 3.4GB of VRAM so i modded it to be able to use 4GB now it works like a charm. Whiterun crashed more than anything idk why. And i got my MSI R9-290 for $190 on sale brand new with 3 free AMD Gold games, a Free MSI Headset, and a $40 rebate i just got in the mail a while back also so it was the ONLY good deal i have gotten in my entire life. I though it was a prank on Newegg but it was real and i got it all haaha. You gotta admit i mean youd get it to if you found a deal like this man i mean its a steal you gotta admit

WOW, you got an R9 290 and a headset along with promo for $150 then? Damn right that's a good deal lol, hell if i had that deal in front of me i would've just got two R9 290's for Crossfire instead of my GTX970; as much as i love the 970 with it being much stronger than a 290, it wouldn't stack up to 2 of them. 290's are usually $250-$275, so you did get a good deal there.

As far as K-enb, it's all opinion i guess, but in my opinion it is definitely the best looking ENB out there, the reason not many people use it is due to it's super power hungry nature. You need at least a GTX680 or higher with 3gb VRAM to even think of running it at high fps without tweaking down features on it. To run it on my 660 i had to turn off depth of field and SSAO and i still only got ~30fps on it; with everything on i only got 17-22fps lol. But even with it being a "rich man's ENB" that isn't too popular with average power pc gamers, it still has an absolutely beautiful look to it; try it out, look at the screenshots, it looks even better in real game. Just make sure to get the original K-ENB, not the special versions which imo look worse.

EDIT: hmm, interesting. i haven't played skyrim in a while, and didn't notice that K enb is gone, at least the original one. But even the new "K enb pure light" has 26,639 downloads, with the original having much more than that, so i don't know where you got the 1,000 number from.

And the K enb pure light does look fairly close to the original K enb even though i like the original look better, so check out pure light; it's got alot of great tone to it.

Sorry man i meant that k enb had 20k downloads and Real Vision has around 3 million. I tried long and hard to find the K enb but cant find it anywhere :( Also i have never gotten a deal this good in my entire life haha i mean i was happier than a Tornado in a Trailer Park lol I was going to get 2 though but had not enough cash lol. Not only did iget a good deal on my R9-290 but it is also a flawless card. I overclocked its Clock and memory core to the MAX and ran benchmarks for 24 hours and more, played many games high performance such as Skyrim with RV ENB, TOmb Raider, BF4, and many other games on Ultra and no artifacts, stutters or anything. I have this card overclocked to the max and cant go anymore i wish i could go more and my card stays at 78 degrees max. I keep my card at stock but it OC like a dream im really happy with it i may get a waterblobk for it when someone invents one for the MSI R9-290 later on years from now. For Christmas my GF is getting me the Logitech G430, Logitech G502, and Logitech G440 for Christmans so im pretty exited. Me and my GF built this PC together, she did a lot of it to. Heres is some pictures of the build if you are interested any because i want others openion on how my cable management is. https://www.facebook.com/jeffery.peters.942/media_set?set=a.716976451709273.1073741834.100001907757347&type=3

Ah i see, just a typo then. And yeah it does have alot less than realvision, but this is the new pure light version so it hasn't had alot of time to rack up downloads, i believe the original had at least a few hundred thousand to a million or so, not sure though. I believe i still have the original installed in my skyrim directory; i hope i do since i want to see the fps difference from my old gpu to this 970 i got.

And yeah i know how you feel, i never get good luck, things always go on sale AFTER i buy them -__- So getting a free game promo or something makes me like a schoolgirl lol, i've spent more time LOOKING at my new gpu than i have playing i think haha.

Oh, and the facebook link won't work for some reason. It just says "content not currently available"

Keep in mind that most people that make videos to show their ENB's dont have many mods installed except a few texture mods just to make the landscape, trees, grass etc look nice.Texture mods wont affect your fps that much unless you use MANY of them.
But to give you an idea what you can expect i was getting 25-30 fps with Realvision on a R9 270.You will get better frames but honestly i believe you will enjoy Skyrim much better with an ENB with better performance but less visuals.
If you want an ENB with great performance look for Reallike ENB.

I didnt say that you will get crappy FPS if you use lots of mods with ENB that has to do with your system.
I just said that usually when people are trying to "advertise" their mod on some video specially an ENB they use the least possible mods for the sake of performance.
