Hey everyone,

i was wondering which operating system is better for gaming in general, and for the next ~2 years in general which is probably how long i'll have this PC before i look at upgrades and/or OS upgrading. The parts list i'll be running is below if it makes any matter.

samsung 840 EVO for system boot drive
2x GTX 980 SLI
Maximus VII hero motherboard
8gb ram (will be upgraded to 16 in a few months max for photoshop work)
i-5 4690k

I'm very used to windows 7 but everything lags a lot due to my horrible current computer.

Thanks!

Since you're getting a new PC you won't get any hardware compatibility issues with Win8. Software too as long as you're not running super old games and applications (though compatibility mode might help)

In terms of gaming, Win7 versus Win8 won't be any different if you have an SSD and enough RAM. If you want to avoid the whole metro UI just get Win7.

Its a hardware thing i'm afraid, my old PC is pretty awful. On the bright side only a few more weeks before my new PC.

Which kind of old games have the problems Lullemannen90, like ancient ones that run on dosbox or windows xp era games?
