Looking at these results from this website, it's clear that GTX 980 would be a smart choice for you to buy.
But I've got a suggestion for you, instead of buying one GTX 980, why not just buy two GTX 970s and put them in SLI?
Putting two GTX 970s together would blow the GTX 980 out of the water.
