BSOD 3B when disabling Windows Aero

Hello guys! I am recently experiencing frequent (but not always) BSOD when disabling Windows Aero. Especially when starting a game. I also experience frequent BSOD when Alt + Tabbing from Fullscreen PC game to the desktop. Also BSOD 3B. But I have bypassed that problem.

But this is getting extremely annoying. Also Bluescreenview is not recognizing. that I have received any BSOD at all.

I have an oveclocked i7 3770K to 4.3 GHz. Temps are completely fine. So I am not convinced that it is an OC issue. I am beginning to think that this is a RAM problem?

What do you guys think?

i7 3770K OC to 4.3
16 GB RAM DDR3
Nvidia GTX680 2GB

I have tried several voltages. I am now currently at 1.200V. I have found some graphs which indicates the best Voltage for current ratio setting. When I have moved lower, BSOD still occurs.

But how can that be related with disabling Aero or Alt + Tabbing? When my system is fully loaded, it's stable as heaven.

Does the problem still occur at stock speeds and voltage settings?

So.. I haven't performed any extensive tests. But it seems that it is an overclocking problem. Because it runs completely fine. But overclocked state is not doing that immediately as well.

However I need it to be OCed at least to 4.3 GHz and Temps are completely fine.

What do you suggest?

To be honest, when it comes to overclocking it is all a bit hit and miss. You say you found some graphs from other peoples overclocks, but the thing is that copying other peoples OC is pointless. You may find that you need more voltage than someone else, or perhaps that your chip just doesn't like being OC'd. That said I think your issue may well be a case of a misapplied setting in your BIOS. Give me the model of your motherboard and half hour or so to research the BIOS layout for that board and then we can see what you might be able to do.

No worries. Funny enough it seems that helping you out should be pretty simple as we both have Z77 MSI motherboards so we should both have identical BIOS options :) For my overclock I did the following:

Go to the OC menu in BIOS:

1. Disable the following; Internal PLL Overvoltage, Enhanced Turbo, Spread Spectrum.

2. Enable X.M.P Extreme Memory Profile.

3. Set Vdroop to 87.5% and Digital Compensation Level (right below the vdroop option) to High.

4. Adjust CPU ratio to 4.3GHz

5. Set core voltage to 1.2v

6. Make sure to save the settings.

7. Enjoy (hopefully) a crash free, stable system.

I have managed to set everything except:

2. Enable X.M.P Extreme Memory Profile.

I was not able to find that option. Could you please specify where it is? I will also try test it and I will report back with the resuls. Thanks again!
