wondering for upgrade old tower which would make sense? I get i5 3570k or fx 8xxx chip? understand better to haswell than ivy, but budget with ram and mobo work much better than haswell with this component. ivy option almost same price as amd cpu, ram, mobo

is 3570k viable option for next couple years? Still be strong at stock? And if moderate overclocky? or im better with amd option? I think he game at 1080p

still better off with the 3570k than the amd chip if your getting it for the same price. But you will have to get a Z series motherboard to OC it. You could always get a higher end haswell chip and a lower end motherboard and sacrifice overclocking. Haswel has 5-10% performance over Ivy so you would have to overclock 5-10 % to match it at same clock speeds. And haswell chips have some higher stock clock speeds too.
