Capacity includes amperage and with 46amps (552watts) on the +12 volts it has the capacity! Would I buy the CX600M is a totally different story. If you do not already have it there are higher quality PSU's on the market but you did not ask for advice in that direction.

Okay, I don't really know a lot about PSUs, so thanks for explaining. I'm upgrading from an XFX 7870 XT to the MSI 970 and wanted to make sure my PSU could handle it. I know it's not great but it was cheap and modular and that's what I needed when I first built my PC.
That is what I figured, you already had it. It is still a tier 3 PSU which basically means it has sufficient quality and will run your 970 fine. Both cards have about the same power requirement.
