I have ASUS A451LB WX077D with these specs:

Intel Core i5-4200U (1.6 Ghz up to 2.6 GHz Turbo Boost)
Memory 4GB DDR3 ( 1600 Mhz )
GeForce GT740M 2GB
HDD 750GB (5400 rpm)

I usually do gaming just fine with recent games like Dead Rising 3, The Evil Within, Watch Dogs, and AC: Black Flag which is quite demanding with medium to high settings. Suddenly 3 days ago I tried to play Dead Rising 3 and I got a very slow almost unplayable laggy game, when I checked the power plan it's already on High Performance. What's not usual when I hit alt+tab in the tray icon Intel HD Graphics appears, yet when I checked NVidia GPU Activity it is running the game. When I feel the left upper side of the keyboard it gets insanely hot.

I want to make sure that this is not a software malfunction, as I'm thinking the NVidia GPU doesn't really run instead it used Intel HD. If it is a hardware one, what really happened? And what should I do? As I've just entered my 6th month with this laptop.
These are the marks I got from GPU-Z, it is ridiculously hot and I don't know if it's valid or not:

Expect some answers soon, thanks! =B

Solution
sounds like either a fan isn't up to par, its cooler is clogged up and needs cleaning, or its time to change the thermal paste to me.

I want to make sure it's just a matter of cleaning or not, because I'm afraid maybe my CPU/GPU is melting or something.. is it possible? If it's only a matter of cleaning, is it something I can do myself or should I bring it to tech professionals? Cause I'm currently living in the countryside and it's not until new year I can go to the city. And I'm wondering how long does a thermal paste last?

I watched some tutorial in youtube and attempted cleaning by myself, though the fan itself's not so dusty yet when I tried to spin the fan it's stuck. I forced spin it and it's not clogged anymore. In GPU-Z it shows 47-77 celsius and I feel the heat from the left side returns to normal, yet the game still laggy. After I shut it down for a while it finally worked as usual.

Sorry as I'm newbie in hardware, I'm more of a software guy. And thxamil for the suggestion, hope this could be useful to anyone =B
