My computer that I got (hand me down) is only reading half the ram in the computer. I have 2 krx3200k2/1g sticks and it only sees 512 of each stick.

Tyan tiger s2723 motherboard

Windows xp

Solution
Those are unsupported memory modules. That board only supports modules with speeds of 200/266mhz and up to 2GB per module.

In many cases the motherboard may just run it at the lower speed, but in some cases it may be partially or completely incompatible. You can try going into the BIOS and setting the memory speed and timings but it would be better to have the correct memory installed.

Ya it does run them just only half. Where is the best place to get old ram like that and where in the mean time is that in the bios? I didn't see anything that would let me change anything for ram.

Who said anything about the processor? Oh, you mean in that thread? I just meant that they addressed the issue of the settings in the BIOS for the memory, in the event you had installed memory that should have been compatible, which we know you don't. It was more for your own reference in regard to making changes to the RAM settings than as to any resolution of the issue.

The resolution in that link was the processor by the looks of it. Maybe I'm wrong. It was hard to read on my phone.

No, you're right. I just meant that wasn't why I provided the link. I was intending that the information in the body of the thread offer you some options regarding changes in settings, in the BIOS, for RAM compatibility on that setup. Just forget that thread link since we already established that it's the wrong RAM.
