Hello guys, just a quick question

So ill be replacing my laptops HDD soon and im a bit concerned. I do not wish to clone the drive, but with my data backed up on a separate drive and all my important files on a separate drive too. My question lies in the OS.

I dont have a OS disk at my disposal and i was wondering also about registration of the product key. If im not mistaken there is a recovery partition but im still at a loss. Any help on going at this with a fresh drive?

Hey LiquidCesium. As far as i know, creating a drive media with system recovery or system repair in Windows 8, 8.1 doesn't let you install Windows. You could take a look at this thread which might help with your case: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media
You probably have a key on the label, on the bottom of your laptop if it came with Windows.

Hope that helps.
