Crash while updating video drivers, can no longer boot

Hey guys,

I was updating my GTX 460 drivers to the latest version last night, and during the installation process my computer blue-screened (unsure why). When I tried to reboot the system blue-screened during the boot. I have since been unable to boot into Windows 8.1 as I am continuously getting a BS. I have tried all safe mode variations, the problem persists.

The blue-screen is caused by nvlddmkm.sys

I need some sort of method to remove the drivers, or at least stop windows trying to load them on boot so I may get in, remove them properly and install a working version.

Using windows recovery to try and auto-fix boot issues had no effect, and I have no saved recovery points to restore.

I have access to a windows 7 install on the same PC to modify any system files as well as a boot disk.

Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Conor

Solution
I renamed nvlddmkm.sys which I found in the Windows Directory, and this allowed the system to boot without starting the bad drivers so I could remove the corrupt drivers and replace them with working ones.

Problem solved.

Safemode won't boot just as much as normal mode. Is there a way to do it from my Windows 7 install?
