Building new gaming. PC ; TOtal NoOb, need help building...

As said by the threads title, I am a building a new gaming PC and want it to be able to handle all the new video games such as BF4 on high or ultra and want it to be able to be used for daily work etc. I need the PC specs. My budget is $1400 SGD. Might be a bit tight but hope you all can help! :)
Cheers in advance! :D

Google translates 1300 SGD (Singapore Dollars) to around 1040 USD.

The problem is that, that is an area not commonly discussed for gaming part prices, so most of us have no idea how far that budget will stretch or even what parts you have access to.

I suggest you do a bit of leg work first and find out what sites you can buy from and get easy shipping from in your area, then get back to us.

Oh ok. We'll here is a build I think may work.
CPU Intel Core i5-4690K
FAN CM Hyper 212 EVO
MOBO MSI Z97 PC MATE
GPU MSI GeForce GTX 970
RAM Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB
HDD Western Digital Blue 1 TB
CASE Corsair Carbide SPEC-01
PSU XFX Core Edition PRO 550W
ODD Samsung 24x SATA

What do you guys think about it??

Or even better: try to avoid the WD series. Toshiba has way faster HDD's for a very good price. Definetely look that up. Apart from that, pretty solid build. Might wanna go with G.Skill or Corsair RAM but that doesn't make a real difference.

If you mean between WD Blue 1TB vs WD Black 1TB? The Blues are made with cheaper parts and just a 2 yr warranty.

Blacks are faster and more reliable and have a 5 yr warranty.

Blues are just for general computing. Blacks have performance and reliability features built in, like Dual Core Processor, High Resolution Controller (HRC), StableTrac Technology, Improved Data Protection: Vibration Control Technology (VCT), Corruption Protection Technology (CPT), NoTouch Ramp Load Technology.

Here in the states at Newegg the Blue is $55 and the Black is $75, but I've seen them carry the Black on promos for $70. It's quite a bit better drive for only $15 - $20 more.

Honestly, the WD Black does have way better performance than the WD Blue. But you should definetely get a Seagate or Toshiba because these will last way longer. You don't need to listen to me but I've had a WD Blue and I only were able to use it for 9 months. Go read some reviews. In percentage they're way more people who end up wiht a broken WD than with a broken Seagate. Seagate might be a little slower but who cares whether you have to wait 20 seconds or 22 seconds? Seagates are cheaper aswell.

Yeah, so you used a WD Blue, and somehow your using bad experiences with that to imply the Blacks don't last very long either? What a crock of shit.

Don't judge a WD Black until you actually try one. They're about the most solid HDD in their price range in reliability and performance. I have both a 1TB Seagate Barracuda and 1TB WD Black. The WD is WAY faster, and unlike the Seagate, has never had any bad sectors reported by testing software.

I also have two 74GB WD Raptors in my previous backup system and they've never had any problems in over 5 years straight use.

Newegg also has...

Newegg.ca — for customers in Canada
Newegg.cn — for customers in China
Newegg.com.tw — for customers in Taiwan

There's also Amazon.uk, for customers in UK and I think they ship to Europe too. I imagine Europe itself must have an equivalent size online vendor too.

I would assume from your name you're from India though? If so, that's always a tough nut to crack. I don't know much about vendors in that area, but I'm wondering if Newegg Taiwan ships there.
