i know this question has be asked before but i have read some solutions and nothing works
so when i turn my pc on the mouse and keyboard ligt up to enter bios settings after it boot up to windows the mouse and keyboard seems to lose power and continue to no longer work. i have tried using all the usb ports and plugging in other devices and they dont work either so its not my keyboard and mouse. i have also tried to restore my system and that does nothing and i cannot go into safe mode because there is no safe mode for windows 8. so there is nothing else i can think of. do i need to reinstall windows from a disk or buy a usb to ps/2 converter and see if that will work because i cant use my pc until windows reconise my devices and work again please help and thank you

Solution
Through linux transfer your crucial data files over to something like a flash drive or external hard drive. Once completed go ahead with the wipe and reinstall.

Hi,There is no need of going in deep down of your System OS.Download iObit Driver Booster 2.1 or the Latest version,Make it into PRO (Get the Key from Youtube) and Install It.Now at the First start of it,It will scan for Missing,Damaged,Outdated and Corrupted Drivers and It will get Downloaded and Quietly Installed Automatically. This must fix your Problem. This is a Safer way to Deal with this Problem. Please inform me the Result after doing my Steps.Thanks.

If your motherboard is only a few months old then I doubt it is the issue, although it is possible.

Find another computer you can burn a Linux Mint Bootable CD with. Boot the Linux OS from the cd and see if you can use your mouse and keyboard through linux. If you can, then your OS probably has corrupted drivers. If you cant, the motherboard is at fault.

If you want to try the PS/2 port don't buy the adapter, buy an actual PS/2 Keyboard and mouse.
