+ Need suggestions for a good GPU and motherboard for a $500-$600 build.

+ Will be a gift for a close friend.

+ He mainly plays stuff like Guildwars 2 and Starcraft 2 but I think he would get into Assassin's creed and Shadow of Mordor type games.

+ Here is what I have going so far https://pcpartpicker.com/user/HealedWolf/saved/nZ3WGX

+ GPU and MoBo are currently just fillers, already have an os

Here's my updated build : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/jf6MmG

The PSU was very poor quality , I added in a better one.

Opted for cheaper ram to keep the build under 0.6k

My GPU and Mobo choices were simple : R9 280 which is a great bang for the buck and the Gigabyte UD3P as it can overclock quite well thanks to its 8+2 Power phase.

R9 280 Benchmarks here :

You should get a better motherboard like the Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 or Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P if your friend is into overclocking.

Definitely go with the R9 as the GPU in that price range, as for the motherboard... it really doesn't matter unless you are looking for a certain amount of ports. Here's the build I'm going to make and is similar to your price range:http://pcpartpicker.com/p/wVBLf7
