Disabling cores for better performance?

Hey Everyone,

I've recently gotten into Oblivion again, and from what I remember, Oblivion works best with a single core on a higher overclock. So because I get the occasional stutter, frame drops and so forth, I was wondering if it would be beneficial to turn off hyper-threading and disable a couple of cores, and boost the overclock.
My CPU is a i7 4770k@4.6GHZ and my GPU is a GTX 780ti.

Thanks

I can't imagine that processor needing any help with its single thread speed. And with that card... there's no reason for stutter. You must have other issues causing stutter.

Turning off one core does make the processor run a little cooler, so you could probably get a few more MHz out of it but I don't think Oblivion is gonna do any better than it already is on your system.
I think it would be more trouble than its worth.

I do have a couple mods on it, like OBGE, RAEVWD, and Qarls, would that have any impact?

It could be that some of your mods are conflicting with the others also what are your other specs as in RAM and the sorts.

*edit*

Also if you're using High End Textures your VRAM could become maxed out and that would cause stuttering.
