Hi folks, been a long time lurker.
I've been a bit of an AMD fan over the years and currently run an 8-core AMD with 32GB RAM, Radeon R9 270 (this is a photo of my upgrade this past April), but looking to maybe move to an Intel machine.
I'm having lots of little hardware quirks on my system where USB devices will stop responding, or booting between Windows/Linux means that some USB ports work and others don't, etc. so when I reboot into the other OS I have to crawl under the desk and plug the keyboard and mouse into different ports. I've been watching for BIOS updates and getting nowhere. I don't overclock, and the problems don't seem to be heat-related as a quick reboot fixes the problem for another night or two. I'm tired of debugging the issues and looking to just build a whole new box.
In Linux I do a lot of software development and have lots of VMs running, which is why I maxed out on 32GB of RAM. I run Windows 7 Ultimate to take advantage of the RAM but really only use Windows for occasional gaming (but I like my gaming to be awesome when I take a break from coding). Mostly an MMO player but I just love really fantastic, fast graphics.
I know it's a tall order to build such a complex hybrid system, but I'd rather not build two PCs for different purposes.
Playing around a little, I've come up with this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/V3CyQ7
That includes my current RAM (well, approximately ... 10-10-10-24), storage (roughly), and PSU (PSU model is slightly off) I currently have this mid-size case. The case has an opening on top for a dual-fan water cooling system, so I've added that to my build.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
