Intel Core 2 Duo CPU Keeps Restarting After Installed Additional 2g RAM

Need the PC Expert here..

My PC Model Infor:
HP Compaq dc7800 Small Form
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU
E4500 @ 2.40 GHz
1.0Ghz 1.97 GB of RAM

The incident was my motherboard could support up to 4 slots RAM. (Existing 2GB Ram installed and working fine). After installing additional 2 GB RAM (each 1GB), the windows started show not stable, my Excel will Crash, or even auto restart the PC.

Please help....

often happens, different types/makes/models of ram dont always work together. Like i said, try the new ram and remove the old, it'll probably work, but is not compatible with the previous ram.
remove the old ram, and just try the new see if it works ok. If ok, then you have an incompatability between the 2 types of ram. There isnt much you can do about that. Another example of why not to mix n match ram types, install matched pairs for optimum stability.
