So in idle mode my cpu is 35 degrees and the fan (according to speedfan) sits at 1658RPM. WHen I play games it can go up to 80 degrees but the fan is still at the same slow speed..

I cant change the speed in speedfan. But shouldent my computer do this by itself anyway?
I have a p67 sabertooth and a i5 2500k

Howdy.

Are you using the stock Intel fan? It should ramp up according to temperature.
If it isn't, then check in your BIOS, under the monitor section, that the CPU-Fan Profile is set to Standard. This will mean that the system will adjust the fan speed as needed.
