Dear Forum Gurus,

I'm planning on buying a new pc for around $1000-$1100 for Christmas. In Q1-Q2 2015 I will be able to spend a bit more on it (more ram) and I have quite new storage and optical disk drive, thus it's not needed.

So key points:

  • ■ I don't need storage.
    ■ I don't need peripherals.
    ■ I don't need optical drive.
    ■ I plan on doing 2 way SLA in late 2015.
    ■ I will buy more RAM in early 2015.
    ■ I don't care about the aesthetics of the parts inside my case.
Key questions:

  • ■Is the power supply optimal for this PC keeping in mind that I will overclock and that I'll have 2 SSD-s, 1 HDD and 2-way SLA later on?
■Are there any corners to cut in order to get a better PC but not spending more (shuffling).

PCPartPicker part list

I chose the power supply for its efficiency in the 320W-600W range, because according to the PCpartpicker estimate, purely the new parts will use over 300W-s. Is this correct?

Solution
Everything looks fine to me. Yes 760W will be enough to run everything overclocked and with two of those 970's

Each GTX 970 takes up to 145W, yes they are very power efficient.

With two cards and everything at full load you might not breach 500W

Thank you for your answer.
I have one more question: is the CPU Cooler right? I'm looking for one which will be able to keep the overclocked system cool, but keep the system as silent as possible.

The Hyper 212 Evo is a great air cooler. One way or another you will require 120/140mm fans for the cooling solution to work (usually provided) and the noise boils down to the number and quality of fans being used, as well as the speed you get them to run at.
