First of all my pc specs:
Intel core i5-4670k at stock settings (Not planning to OC)
Msi b85m-e45
16gb RAM 1333mhz
Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212
Silver power SP-ss500 500W
Samsung evo 128gb ssd
2TB seagate barracuda hdd

I was wondering if I could run a EVGA gtx 970 4gb along with this psu (Silver Power Sp-SS500 500W), and if I cant, could an Corsair cx 500W do the job instead? I'm asking because my hd 7850 just snapped and im looking for an upgrade + I also have a corsair cx lying around. I don't have much money, so my upgrade budget is really thight (Probably around 400 dollars)

The 970 will take less power for sure, but the PSU you have is still on the "cheap" side when it comes to build. Will it run? Most likely. Powersupply and Ram are the two areas that people try to get cheap on thinking that 500watts means it is the same quality from all the brands, when this is not true. Some PSUs are cheap because the parts used are cheap and are prone to failure more quickly which can cause problems with the equipment they are powering. When building a computer the PSU is one of the things I spend a little extra on because i want it stable for at least 5 years.

All that being said. If you are looking to run those cards, yes, they will run, even the 970. We are here to answer your question :) The...

His question was could he run them and the answer is yes with the corsair, but I agree that you should look into a new PSU that is more reliable in the future. PSUs are so important to the longevity of your computer components.

Well, I should do that some time, but atm I most likely wont have money for that. But in the future I probably would. Any suggestions for a good 100 dollars-ish psu that should do the job? :D

If I were to buy Cooler Master B600 600W psu, would that work fine? Or is it so low-quality that I'd risk to fry something in my pc?
