PC crashing under heavy load

hey,

so im struggling with a crashing computer for over 6 months now, so like i said allready, i am getting really desperate and i want to fix this.

What Happens When I Crash.

the screen freezes, the first month i had the crashes i got like brown screens, green screens, etc.
but thats a long time ago, now it just freezes. but its not the GPU cause i had a friends GPU and i still crashed.
sometimes the sound off the game keeps repeating.

When do my PC crashes

its mostly at the "higher end" games like Battlefield 4, Bad Company 2, DayZ, Etc,...
BUT, it never crashes when im playing League of Legends, like literally it never happened.
and i play League of Legends the most.
my temps are normal when i crash. around 60-70°C for GPU and 45-52°C for CPU

What are my PC specs:

CPU: i7 4770 (cooled with Hyper Evo 212)
GPU: GTX 770
MOBO: Asus z87-K
PSU: Corsair CX750M
DRAM: 2 x 4Gb Corsair Vengeance 2133 Mhz DDR3
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB

What have i done allready to identify the problem

i have borrowed a GPU from my friend and i still crashed.

i have ran 3D Mark's FireStrike Benchmark multiple times, together at the same time with other benchmarks and never had a problem.

also i have ran MemTest on my previous sticks but never had a problem. i didnt run it on these cause i literallty have these since yesterday. cause i thought the problem from crashing was my sticks. but i crash again now so yeah...

also 3 days ago i reinstalled windows on my PC so no "faulty" programs, of course i have installed all up-to-date drivers.

Iff u need any other info from CPU-Z or RivaTuner or any other program, screenshots from BIOS. ETC:... ASK ME PLZ.
i will provide u the info u need to fix this problem,


like i said multiple times, i am desperate so i would love u my entire life iff u know how to fix this. :)

Did you try testing a different PSU? I recommend you doing that.

it can be because of faulty psu or because of high heat try testing both the issues

buying a 80+ certificated pus is recommended

before buying borrow from your friend or someone and test it if that works.

Here's what your motherboard's specs are for RAM:

Memory
4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 2933(O.C.)/2800(O.C.)/2666(O.C.)/2600(O.C.)/2400(O.C.)/2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1600/1333 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory

That "O.C." means RAM over 1600 MHz will work, but you may have to treat it like overclocking. Or in other words, when you plug it in, it might or might not work on its own, and if not, you have to go in and adjust the timings and voltage yourself until you get it stable. Since you've got a 2133 MHz set, that's what I'd start with. See if the memory is set to "Auto" in the BIOS, and if so, set it manually.

The power supply could be a possibility; that is not a great unit, but it is not the worst either. I'd be surprised if you were stressing it anywhere near enough to cause issues unless the unit was going seriously bad.

But try the RAM idea too; unstable memory can cause all manner of random freezing and crashing, and doesn't always show up in Memtest because the sticks aren't defective, just unstable because of settings. Trying that fix is free!

indeed, i installed the Antec TruePower 650W 80+ Gold and i crashed after playing a game of Battlefield Bad Company 2.
but this time it was different. my game did not freeze, it just went white.

and for the RAM sticks, i have put it on XMP so all settings should be fine, i think.
so iff u could tell me how to change the settings properly and to what i have to change.

If XMP works like it's *supposed* to, it will get the settings right, but it's not perfect. Fairly often you hear about it not working on certain sets of RAM with certain boards, so it does happen.

To do the settings yourself, ASUS has a menu in the BIOS called AI Tweaker for overclocking ... go in there and there should be something called DRAM Timings or DRAM Settings ... set those to the specs of your set of RAM, which you will have to look up (Most of the Corsair Vengeance at 2133 MHz looks like the timings are 11-11-11-27 and voltage is 1.5V, but double-check this first.) See if that solves the problem; if not, you can try increasing the voltage ever so slightly, maybe 0.04V, and see if that helps stabilize it.

If it still doesn't work, try lowering the clock speed to 1600 MHz (the highest that's supposedly supported by your board automatically) instead of 2133 MHz, and see if it's stable there. If so, you can try gradually adjusting it upwards until you get to full speed, which is basically the same as you'd go through in overclocking. I personally haven't overclocked RAM in a long time, so I'm no expert on it, but there are plenty of people who can help you with that part, particularly in the memory or overclocking forums.

By the way, if at any point this messes things up so badly that you can't reach the BIOS, you can reset it to factory defaults by unplugging the machine and removing the silver battery from the motherboard for a few minutes. I hope this helps you get to the bottom of it.

You mean changing the RAM settings? Yes, that could make it crash if you don't get it right, but it's crashing now, right? If they don't help the problem, or they make it worse, it's simple to undo them and move on to something else.

It's difficult to cause any permanent harm changing RAM settings; you can always go back. The only way I can think is if you raised the voltage super-high, or you mess with the CPU voltage instead of the RAM voltage (which is a difficult mistake to make).

ok, i couldnt find the time to do this. but i have now.

i changed the primary timings to 11-11-11-27 as its tested. it was on 9-11-11-31 with XMP.
BCLK frequency DRAM frequency changed from auto to 100:100.
for some reasy was the Mhz on 1400 with XMP but i changed to 1600Mhz.
also the DRAM voltage was on 1.65.000 but i changed to 1.50.000.

what do i have to do with the secondary timings? its all on auto.

No, it's perfectly normal to have the command rate be 2.

It sounds like the XMP may have messed up the settings ... does it work under the new ones, or is it still crashing?

You shouldn't need to mess with the secondary timings. If you're worried they're destabilizing things, for example if the ones from the XMP were wrong and carried over, set the entire RAM profile to Auto, then go back and manually set only the first four main timings and leave the rest alone.

i still crashed indeed with these settings. but it was different.

screen went black, en pc restarted inmediatly, maybe this is clearing another problem?

so i have to put everything on auto, then only the primary timings to 11-11-11-27 and voltage to 1.50.05?

also the the BCLK frequency should be 100:100?
