Hi, I'm planning on buying a GeForce GTX 780 which is a PCIe 3.0, but my only free slot is a PCIe 2.0.
My one and only PCIe 3.0 slot is being used by my factory card which is an Nvidia Quadro 2000 (which my limited knowledge tells me is an inferior graphics card).

Will I be able to fit the GTX 780 into the free 2.0 slot properly and will it work?
Furthermore, will these two cards work in unison and boost my systems performance at all?
I mainly work in Photoshop, Zbrush, and Maya.

I don't know much about this nitty-gritty stuff, so if anyone would care to enlighten me, it would be much appreciated.

Solution
The 780 will work with PCI 2.0.

The Quadro and 780 will not work together for increased performance.

The 780 is primarily a gaming card

The Quadro series is designed for much higher performance in applications like Photoshop, Zbrush and Maya.

I would suspect that your 2000 probably performs the same if not better than a GTX 780 when using Maya.

If you aren't concerned with gaming, I would purchase an upgraded Quadro card to increase performance in those applications. However, it may be possible to use both cards, one for gaming and then the original Quadro for heavy applications like Maya.

So would two Quadro 2000's mean double the performance?
