The 270 is a stronger card and has mantle support for games like battlefield 4 and upcoming titles like GTA 5.
If you can spend about £10-20 more, you can get the 270x which is an awesome card. The 750ti is considered to be a budget level card and doesn't make sense to pair with a i5-4460.

r9 270 is a lot better than 750 ti
you will likely see a difference of 15 fps in games which is huge
games that run 23~27 fps will now run 40 fps
games that run 39~43 fps will now run nearly 60 fps
