The performance of most Hard drives are the same (64MB Buffer, 7200 RPM) as long as you're talking about traditional HDDs, and not Hybrid HDDs or Solid State Drives.

Over time, you'll probably want more storage than less, unless you're very good about uninstalling games when you're done playing them. Otherwise, there's virtually no difference in performance. It's just if you want more or less storage.
