Hey, I work in 3D Animation and do some video editing and after effects work on the side. Not a gamer at all. Been changing my mind quite a bit with this computer build but I think 6-core will be the best way to go, as MAYA will thank me later. Go with 4X4GB or RAM for now and add another four sticks later. For what you are doing, the four channels are needed.

I plan to add more ram in the future, but for now I'm just grabbing 16GB... Would I really notice lack of performance if I didn't have four channels? Also is there a reason why I should switch to the AsRock X99 Extreme 4?

I was trying to keep it cheaper and it has been selected my many people in general. Do you have a budget?
