Hi all

I'm looking at upgrading my computer currently i have a GA-78LMT-USB3 motherboard and i was wondering what the best processor i could equip it with. I would prefer not to change my mobo and save some cash.

I have a AMD FX 6300 6 core 3.50 Ghz at the min and want something better

i have been looking at http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Processors/AMD+CPUs/FX+%28Piledriver%29+-+Socket+AM3%2B/AMD+%28Piledriver%29+FX-8350+4.00GHz+%284.20GHz+Turbo%29+Socket+AM3%2B+8-Core+Processor+-+Retail+?productId=52722 and http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Processors/AMD+CPUs/FX+%28Piledriver%29+-+Socket+AM3%2B/AMD+Piledriver+FX-8+Eight+Core+FX-9370+Black+Edition+4.40GHz+%284.70GHz+Turbo%29+%28Socket+AM3%2B%29+Processor+?productId=61322 but again not sure if they will go on my mobo

Solution
In gaming the i5 4460 will destroy a fx 8350. The i5 has much better core performance and games currently only use 4 or less cores so the fx's extra 4 cores don't help. And yes i would suggest replacing the CX500. I have used couple CX 500's when they first came out(they reviewed well at the time) all failed in the first year on systems only pulling 50% or less load.

Will it go on my motherboard with no problems ? and the 8350 is gonna be a major upgrade for me right ?

Sorry if these are annoying questions but I'm so clueless about hardware :p

What would you suggest then ? im willing to spend £200-250 on upgrading i have an R9 280x GPU atm so i dont think i really need to upgrade that atm. If im to change my mobo and get a good processor what would you say go for ?
My main goal is to make arma 3 run smoother than i run it atm witch is around the 25-30 fps mark on 90+ player servers

Upgrade to an FX-8320/8350 and Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P OR if you wanna go with Intel,i5 4440/4460 and a B85/H97 board for Gigabyte/ASUS

Either will be a good upgrade from a FX 6300.

Thanks pal. Think i have found everything im looking for now :D just cant wait to get this up and running and seeing the performance change. Only thing that im scratching my head at now is do all processors come with some sort of fan ? because looking at https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Processors/Intel+CPUs/Core+i5+-+Socket+1150+Haswell/Intel+Core+i5-4690+3.50GHz+%28Haswell%29+Socket+LGA1150+Processor+-+Retail+?productId=60660 dont seem to mention if it does or not

Sweet thanks mate was a bit over what i was originally willing to pay but oh well £300 power supply mobo and a processor seems like a good deal to me and hopefully i see a major performance increase :D
