Overclocking fx-6300 help for my mobo

So in doing some research recently I found that while the fx-6300 still works fine for me, it is much less powerful than I had previously thought. I found that the Intel I5-2500K is actually a better processor than the AMD fx-6300. So, to make my current build last a bit longer cpu-wise, I would like to overclock. The confusing part is that I've heard conflicting answers on whether it is safe to overclock on my motherboard, the ASRock 960GM/U3S3 FX http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157323 , http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/960GMU3S3%20FX/index.asp?cat=. So, one, can I safely overclock on this motherboard? Two, what kind of performance increase should I expect (now and possibly future)? And lastly, what would a good, cheap cooler be for overclocking it? Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for the help.

Hello,

You are incorrect, it supports 125W Phenoms, but only 95W FX (the FX has more agressive power consumption than Phenoms, so a 4-phase VRM with a single pair of FETs on each phase is not enough).

If you still want to overclock, go for an aftermarket CPU cooler, put some radiators over the VRMs (http://www.amazon.com/Cosmos-Aluminum-Cooling-Heatsinks-cooler/dp/B007XACV8O/ref=sr_1_22?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1415056232&sr=1-22&keywords=vga+cooler), an additional fan over the VRMs and you're good to go.

Why shouldn't I though? I thought that since it has 8-core support, and the 8-core amd processors are 125w, that it should give me at least a little bit of room to overclock.
