Hi everyone!

This is my first build. I am building a PC that will mostly be used for video editing / graphic design, as well as audio production. I am borrowing from previous builds I have found, and this is what I've come up with so far. I'm hoping to either get approval before I begin shopping, OR I am hoping that someone will point out why my build won't work and point me in the right direction! Thank you!

Here is what I'm planning:

CPU: Intel Core i7 - 3930K Hexa-Core Processor 32.2 Ghz 12 MB
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Motherboard: ASUS P9X79 LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 8GB sticks) DDR3 1600 MHz (12800) Desktop Memory
Storage: Samsung 840 Pro Series 2.5 inch 256 GB/s SSD
Storage: 2 x Seagate Barracuda ITB 3.5" 7200 RPM Internal Hard Drives
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 770 GDDR5 - 4GB 2x DVI/HDMI/DP OC Windforce 3x Graphics Card
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case
OR
Corsair Carbide Series Black 400R Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Not exactly sure what I need for this setup. Any help here appreciated!

Thank you!

For this setup i'd recommend the xfx 550w power supply. Its efficient and powerful enough that it will suit your needs just fine. Also the new x99 platform came out which I would recommend. The ddr4 costs more but you can get a cheaper cpu thats also 6-core.

Also you can get the 2gb version of the 770 as it won't make much of a difference right now.

Otherwise this is a very solid build.

(optional: personally I think the 300r looks much better)

Thank you for the advice Bob!

Do you mind if I ask which CPU you would recommend?
Also, is the x99 compatible with all of this hardware?

Thanks for the tip about the 300r. I also like the look much better : )

Glad you liked the 300r.

To go from x79 to x99 all you need to change is the motherboard, processor, and ram. For the x99 a good price/performance cpu is the 4820k EDIT: 5820k sorry. There are a lot of great options for the motherboard that will change depending on needs but even the cheapest ones are good.
The last change is ddr3 to ddr4 RAM. Basically any RAM from a major brand (corsair, kingston, g.skill, etc.) will be fine, just look at the price/gb
