Are two SSD's better than one?

Ok, I have an old Corsair Force GT 60 gb ssd, and I have a new Samsung EVO 840 500gb ssd.

What I planned to do is use the GT for system files only (Windows 8 pro, drivers, antivirus software) and install everything else on the EVO (Games, Productivity software).

Would this be the optimal setup, or would it be better to install everything on the EVO, and just forget about the GT?

I am pretty sure the Samsung 840Evi has faster read and write speed. So maybe install what your use the most (e.g. Windows) onto the Samsung.

However this isn't such a sensible choice. Because the second SSD is 60GB and it will not be enough to store the rest of your information.

Do you have a HDD? Maybe install Windows on the Samsung and dump or sell the Corsair GT SSD. But still store the rest of the stuff on the HDD.

I would either go with what you suggested or just install windows and large files like games on the evo and software like antivirus, browsers, etc. on the 60gb one. No need to waste it by throwing it away and it should still have plenty of life left, ssd's don't die as fast as people believe.

Yes the Evo is a bit faster according to passmark. And yes, I have a 2T hdd for storage, so the ssd is strictly for installed programs. Optimally, the Evo would be better for system files and the Gt for games, but the Gt is too small for me to install my game selection. The Gt will probably find its way into a Christmas stocking this year, so it's no real loss.
