I'm wondering if getting the GTX970 will be good with my current setup as a replacement for my 6950?

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
Asus Sabertooth 990FX
16GB Kingston DDR3 Ram
MSI R6950 TWIN FROZR II
800w CM Silent Pro Gold

I don't have overclock on cpu because I've never really looked into and I don't want to mess it up. I was just concerned about the cpu /mobo not being enough to utilize the GTX970 considering I bought them both a few years ago.
