I am upgrading my computer and want to transfer the cpu and liquid cooler from my old PC to my new one. I currently have a HP ENVY Phoenix 810-003a.

The question I want know is how do I remove the cooler from the motherboard without breaking anything and install it in my new computer. I am only taking the cpu and cooler, not the motherboard.

It would depend on what kind of cooler HP used. Is this your PC? http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03975432&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5448034#N286
If so, it appears to be a proprietary design AIO cooler. Normally, you would unfasten the 4 mounting thumb nuts holding the pump to the CPU, give it a slight twist to break the seal, and remove it from the CPU. Clean off any old thermal interface material (TIM) and carefully move it aside being careful not to scratch the mounting surface. Clean off the old TIM from the CPU too.

If the fan and radiator is mounted like retail versions, the fan will be sandwiched between the radiator and the rear grill with 4 screws. Remove those and carefully set aside the fan and...

If the fan and radiator is mounted like retail versions, the fan will be sandwiched between the radiator and the rear grill with 4 screws. Remove those and carefully set aside the fan and move the radiator-hoses-pump assembly to a safe storage area.

Finally, remove the CPU and store it in a clamshell case if available, being careful not to damage the contact on the bottom. They are extremely delicate. If the new MB is handy, transfer the CPU directly to the new board for safekeeping.

You will probably have the rest of the pump's mounting hdwr. still on the old MB. That will also have to be removed and transferred to the new board. When re-assembling, be sure to clean any old TIM from the surfaces with something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100010&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-Thermal+Compound+%2f+Grease-_-N82E16835100010&gclid=CLa7zpbm4cECFY5cMgod-AgAgg
I use coffee filters for cleaning due to them being lint free. Lens cloths work well too.
