How will this RAM behave on my system?

Hi there kind folks,

I've may have done something dumb without really thinking it through, and now I need some serious advice, Heres how the story goes:

I recently threw together a new Haswell powered system, The Motherboard is a Gigabyte G1.Sniper, Z87 chipset with a Core I7 4770 CPU non K, and a Samsung 840 Pro SSD 256GB.

Now all that's left is the RAM, This is where i think i messed up, I purchased a 32GB set of Corsair Vengeance RAM 4x8GB at a speed of 2400mhz from Amazon, heres the link:

http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-2400MHz-Memory-CMY32GX3M4A2400C11R/dp/B00GM83C86

But once i received them, I discovered that there may be an issue running them in my configuration, Something about the CPU and motherboard having to support it, I checked the manual for the board and it says it supports "Extreme memory profiles" I assumed it mean't it supports these high speed rams, but now I'm having doubts, I didn't try to plug them in yet as I didn't want to risk damaging anything if they are not compatible,

So my questions are:

1. Will they even work on my system even at lower speed?

2. What speed will these RAM's run at out of the box? CPU can only run 1600mhz max.

3. What does XMP do? And Will it run the RAM at its factory speed?

I'd really appreciate you guys help with this, I'm hoping I don't have to send them back as i was really excited about getting them.

Any answers would be appreciated.

Thanks.

it should, and also, you have a good board so you could set it higher than a 1600 for sure.
and even if it cannot reach 2400mhz, these can run at a slower speed, not just the speed it is designed to run at.
not too sure about the voltage though, you might have to bump it up a bit (depending on the ram specs)

Thanks, thats Good to know, But I'm still curious about XMP, What does it do to allow the RAM to run at its correct speed and what impact does it have on my CPU? are there any long term effects? especially for a non K processor.

as far as i know (i've only had to set them like once i think), it sets the ram to some predefined specs that are standard.
there are no side effects that i know of. these rams are capable of running at lower speeds (or even higher speeds if you oc them), and since lower is safer you should not have any issues

Thanks, Appreciate it, I just have one more question, On Gigabyte's "Memory chart" they only list the 4GB edition as supported, Is this normal? Can the board take the 8GB stick? Or Am i screwed?
