So I need to get a new PC and I have plenty of time to wait things out to try to get the best parts list going. My budget is $2000 but I could possibly go up to $2500 which is what my current parts are at.

I'll be doing gaming and video editing, and I'd like to have something I won't have to replace for years to come. Is there anything within this build I could swap out for similar performance parts but lower the price?

Of course gtx 970 can do sli. It's the latest gen card. Look at some reviews, it's the best performance and value nvidia have released for a long time. The x2 is very power hungry and will be replaced by amd in the mext few months. Don't forget its also only 4gb (dual gpu) 780ti is good, but last gen and gtx 970 is nearly as good plus has 4gb.

That's one of the things I'm not to sure on yet is the gpu. I was looking at the gtx 780 ti, but I can't seem to find a reliable place to purchase it I see the price from $600 to $900 while the picture and specs are the exact same. So that's why I picked the r9 290x because I can SLI both of them for the same price. But I'll look at the gtx 970, are they able to SLI or would the performance be the same with just using one of them?
