To extend a bit over the one-liner, there is an incredibly low chance that some files will get corrupted. This can happen whenever you stop the download for any reason, and chances of it happening skyrocket if it stopped downloading the game for an accident (such as a power outage).

Sleep/hibernation modes, pausing the download or doing too much disk operations all have a slight chance of causing such damage, but it's nothing a Steam cache integrity check can't correct, so don't worry.
Just run a check after running the game once and you'll be fine.

If i verify the integrity of the game cache would the game re-dowload completely or no? This happened to me with Black Ops 2 and since my internet is not very fast it took a long time to redowload. Is this true with some games or was it just a glitch.

No, unless the entire installation is corrupted (which would literally mean you were dancing on your pc while it was installing...) or unless the entire game is contained into a single/split-part huge file (which almost never happens anymore nowadays).

The integrity cache check will run all files through and only re-download the broken ones. It's not like you're forced to run it anyway; simply play the game, and if you see something weird or constantly crash around the same area in the game, run the check.
