i found a thread and this ram http://tinyurl.com/l8fxyjq
was said to work for that person in that thread, and i checked dell site
says that ram should work, i have 6 towers im working on for someone as a donation

and i got the ram, now no display when powering on, all fans spin up and no error beeps.

im usually very good with working on computers, these towers are just not working at all
i dont have original ram that was working in the towers so i dont know exactly what was in it.

can anyone tell me what may be going on?
im thinking ram wont work but im not sure, i cant see it being all 6 motherboards bad
or all them having bad integrated graphics.

any suggestions on what i can do or will this ram even work? http://tinyurl.com/l8fxyjq

I also work with dell computers and we refurbish them. I found out that Dell pcs are really delicate on what ram to use. I have a bunch of different ram here at the shop, and the dell optiplex 760's will only take this Hynix brand ram, i have at least 10 others types and companies and i will not take any. So what im thinking is that the particular ram you got just isnt compatible with dell pcs. Does the power button blink green when u turn it on?

Power Light is solid green with a yellow light on motherboard by the ram slots,
green light on back of tower on power supply.

already tried clearing the CMOS by removing battery, removing all non needed hardware
reseating every part/wire

I was thinking ram is the issue but its not beeping, (beeps with no ram in as it should, but not with ram in) others have used this same ram on same model and had success.
i never really work on dells, Im mostly: toshiba/acer/hp/compaq/asus/dell in that order of most of least worked on.

what ram can i use in this tower then?
i need to get them running and have limited budget as im doing it for free as donation.

dell optiplex 780 (the full sized desktop case - 4 ram slots) not a slim tower or anything

I have a neighbor down the street from my house, recently fixed his dell 780 (just windows reinstall and drivers with new hardware) so il just ask him if i can pull his ram card see what name is, il get same ram as that, should work if it works in his.

if not school in my area uses all that model computer (few hundred towers) il see about getting a card to test from there
i know one of the tech teachers there well, that may be my 2 best bets to get ram that works...

il repost back once i get one of those cards see if it fixes issue, and for future reference for others looking into the issue

Good ideas, let us know! Im curious to know how well the 780 handles different ram because i havent had the change to work with something better than a dell 760 until now.

I pulled this ram from neighbors working optiplex 780
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/4GB-2x2GB-Samsung-M378B5673EH1-CF8-PC3-8500U-/251702872607?pt=US_Memory_RAM_&hash=item3a9aa90a1f

and you had said hynix, and that would be this
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Hynix-8GB-4x-2GB-2Rx8-PC3-8500U-DDR3-1066MHz-Desktop-Memory-HMT125U6TFR8C-G7-/271597906488?pt=US_Memory_RAM_&hash=item3f3c7f2a38

i dont want to order the wrong ram again so im most likely going to order the samsung one pulled from a working 780

this is just my findings and have not ordered nor tested in my towers yet, but i assume the samsung will work in my 780 towers, as they work in my neighbors 780 just fine.

But should i need more ram... will that hynix ram work also...
