Currently im looking at the Asus H81M-E mATX, its roughly £40

Are there any better ones, for a similar price, or should i consider spending a bit or a lot more to get a more reliable one?

Im using intel i3-4130, R7 260x (or gtx 750ti)

Im not worried about whether the board it ATX or mATX, my case fits both

many thanks in advance

Hi Owen,
Very 1st of all, mobo means motherboard (sorry for that shortcut).

Z motherboards (like Z-97) will be made for overclocking. Since you didn't chose a CPU with unlocked multiplier, you won't be able to overclock. Therefore, an H motherboard (like H-97) will do just fine for your needs.

Intel recent motherboards are graded with letters and numbers. 97 is the latest in gaming mobos. There are 99 but are alot more expensive a more oriented for enthusiasts and workstations.

A newer motherboard, with a chipset like the H97 I first showed you, will run at a lower temperature, will be more stable under load (when gaming), and are most of the time more durable since it uses improved components.

A good motherboard is a motherboard...

What generally makes a motherboard good? Apart from whether it has a USB 2.0 or 3.0, SATA3, etc.
What is mobo?

also, i will only be using one graphics card, two hard drives, a cd drive, and card reader drive (4 SATA needed)
I have 8gb memory split in two modules (4gb each)

What do you think to this motherboard, i did some research and it seems to be a good one?

MSI Z87-G41-PCMate ATX Motherboard (Intel Z87, 4x DDR3, DVI, HDMI, 4x USB3.0, GBE LAN, LGA1150 Socket)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Z87-G41-PCMate-Motherboard-USB3-0-LGA1150/dp/B00CXOMGEY/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1415207956&sr=1-1&keywords=MSI++Z87-G41+PC+Mate

I also found this, which i believe to be a different version.

MSI B85-G43 ATX Motherboard (Intel B85, 4x DDR3, DVI, HDMI, 4x USB3.0, GBE LAN, LGA1150 Socket)

Which is better than the other?

A good motherboard is a motherboard that fits your needs. The number of USB 3 is one of many features a motherboard will offer. SLI and Crossfire capable, the number of SATA III, ECC, M.2 connection, built in Wi-Fi card, number of PCIe slots, number of fan headers, ETC ETC ETC - These are some of many features a motherboard will offer.

This might all be very confusing, this is why I proposed a cheap, but reliable motherboard that will most propably fit all your needs for the next 2-3 years.

Hope this helps, feel free to ask more!
