have tried to upgrade with whited00r but get to download will be begin in 10 seconds page and nothing happens is there any other way , thanks Helen

I would suggest a hard reset of the ipod which will clear any data. On the older iPod Touch's, be aware that you can't get them to iOS 8, but 4.

which iios version are you trying to download for the ipodtouch 1st gen ?
