First off let me just say that I have been googleing stuff like this for ages and more often than not I find it from the fine folks at toms hardware and have been waiting for the day when I would need to make an account to ask a question of my very own, it appears that day has come:

So, my father and I are looking to get a pair of decent gaming PC's with a $1000 budget (thats each not in total). I decided to look up a gaming build since i had no idea what i was doing, and found this article published just last month: http://elitegamingcomputers.com/top-gaming-computers/#19

we went with the first one, they even have a handy "I want this pc" button that throws it into a list on amazon and we were so close to buying it when I remembering all you wonderful people thought "hey maybe i could get this for cheaper if i used that site everyone uses on tom's hardware!" so i plugged all the parts into part picker and discovered that there was an incompatability issue! this brings me to my question:

Will a Cooler Master hyper 212 evo cooling fan fit into a corsair spec 01 case?

(here is the permalink for reference: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/brrDhM)

No, the cooler will not fit inside the case according to the official specs for the case and cooler. Corsair states the maximum cooler height is 150mm and the Hyper 212 EVO is 159mm tall.

Solution
Here's a slightly tweaked version of your build that is all compatible. It uses two sticks of 1866MHz RAM which will run considerably better than the single stick of 1600MHz RAM in your initial build. The RAM is faster and will run in dual-channel mode. I also included an OS since your build didn't have one listed.
