I got my hands on a free gtx 970! But I need everything to go with it :(

Budget 400-550$ USD
If possible Lower the price, the better.

I have a monitor, but it only gets 1600x900 Reso and would like to upgrade if possible.

I also have keyboard and mouse, but I kinda want new stuff ya know? but if I cant I can live with my old ones.
Was thinking of an i3, but i5 would be better. Could go AMD also.

Thanks!

Solution
An i3 would work, but would bottleneck a GTX 970. If you went i3, I would recommend an H97 board, so you can upgrade to Broadwell, next year, if you have the funds to do so.

copy much? That HDD is the only thing you changed, and it only has 32MB of cache unlike the WD drive which has 64MB of cache

I have a different motherboard, that has multicore enhancement, and a different case. ;) It wasn't just the HDD. Cache of 32 vs 64 doesn't really matter much in HDD either. Not to mention your drive was a slow 5400rpm drive. You don't want a 5400rpm drive for an OS drive.
