Hello! Which is the best gaming cpu for socket 939 (asus a8n32sli-deluxe) to replace Athlon x64 4000+?

Probably this one would be your best bet, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103002 but finding one will be difficult and might not be worth it, its really outdated. might almost better to get a cheap AM3+ platform.

Well... FX60 price is ridiculous. ebay has used opterons 170/175/180. 180 is almost a double price 175, while 170 and 175 are more or less the same.

Any of those dual cores will be improvement and they OC well I had 170 and ran it at 2.6GHz for years.

I'm interested only in gaming difference. Will Opteron significantly overleap 4000+? Will I be able to run FarCry 3, which I cannot with 4000+?

None are suited for modern gaming last game I ran good with the Opty was Mass effect 2.

I just want to run Fac Cry 3. 4000+ cannot do it. There are plenty of used athlon x2/opteron cpus on ebay ranging from $10 to $70
X2:
3800+ $10
4200+ $20
4400+ $29
4600+ $40
4800+ $65

Opteron:

175 $25
180 $50

Help me choose the optimal model. I don't want overpay.

I'm not into all that OC thing, so I'd rather not to do that. All that's needed is to make Far Cry 3 running more or less ok. All of the above should be better than current single core 4000+ and suitable to run FC3, so here comes price per performance factor.

Why? Does it perform better than 4400 or equal to? $4 is not a big deal. So the final dilemma is 4400+ vs 175, no overclocking.

Yep, seems no difference at all. Game debate rates X2 higher, but it is AM2 . I'll go for 175 then
