We recently got a new internet and we set it up in my room so i would have the best internet connection of us all, but i get around 8mbit and 80-100ping while my family gets 15mbit+ and 50ping, and i dont get why since i am closer to the router shouldn't i have the best ping?,

and no we cannot move the router!

Solution

1. What WiFi standard is you NIC and router? 802.11a/b/g/n/ac?

2. Try updating your drivers.

3. If you have an AV or Firewall, try disabling it temporarily to see if that is causing the issue. Then modify rule as needed.

4. Check the router's QoS.

hi thank you for the answers, we just tried to move my fathers computer into my room right next to my computer and he still got the same result 50ping and 15mbit+ we're using a wifi yes, and i cannot move out of my room either. My dad has a inbuilt internet wirless thing inside his computer and i don't, does it make a difference? Sorry if you dont understand im new to this kind of stuff.

The type of WiFi adapter 'probably' doesn't matter much. Not at those levels anyway.

But:
What type of overall connection do you have? Cable, DSL, Fiber?
What router is it?
What make/model WiFi adapter are you using?
