Hi all, I am new to Tom's Hardware and I am looking for some advice. Currently I am doing minimal gaming and web surfing on a HP G2 Laptop the specs are,Intell I3, 8gb DDR3 with a 500gb hdd. Any way I have decided that its time for an upgrade and have set out on building a gaming slash workstation PC. Bellow I have attached a parts list that I came up with on my own and would like someone with experience to look it over. What I need the most help in is if all the are compatible and am I getting the biggest bang for the buck? Also could someone please estimate what games I could play at what fps. Thanks for any help, Jett

Solution
1. i5 is all you need in gaming.

2. I presented an option of having 2 R9 290s which is a high end rig, you can use 1 GPU if you like.

3. Yes, it will destroy COD Ghost and Advance Warfare.

For starters you definitely don't want a Corsari CX series to power this rig. You can definitely get a much better PSU for the money. And you also don't need an Intel i7 for your uses. I would suggest something like this:

Here you go buddy. A little bit overbudget for R9 290 CROSSFIRE.

Again it is R9 290 CROSSFIRE! It is a high end rig! :)
Just take a look.

Why would you go with the i5 vs the i7? How much of performance decrease would this affect on the speed in game? Also can you please explain your reasoning behind you choice for that power supply?

Once again why would I go with a i5 vs a i7? Also why would I need two graphics card when I would only be running one maybe two displays? Would this build be able to play COD Ghost and Advance Warfare?
