Hi everyone, Is my cx600M enough to run a gtx970? I currently run a dual monitor setup using a 660Ti, i7 3770k, 32GB of Ram, 1 SSD, 1 7200 rpm HDD and 5 fans.
It isn't the best but it should do the job if you aren't overclocking the CPU. Many will consider it a cheap teir 2-3 one but to do what you are wanting to do, I think you will be fine. If you wanna see where it stacks up go here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html
If you want to get something a little more robust and reliable, get a tier one 600w from that list.
Yes, it has enough power for the GTX 970, though I would not recommend keeping that PSU for much longer. The CX series is not known for reliability under stress for a long period of time due to cheap capacitors. You should eventually replace it with a better one, such as a Corsair AX, SeaSonic, XFX, or EVGA SuperNOVA G2.
thanks for the replies guys, I'm not overclocking my CPU or plan on overclocking the GPU. I dont game with my PC but rather use it for 3D modeling and painting like Zbrush and Substance painter.
