I want to upgrade my home PC so that I can drive one 4k monitor that I'll be buying in the next few months. I have no intention of playing games....only general computing and occasional video editing. I need to make sure the motherboard with integrated graphics or video card suggested can output 60fps. For as basic as my needs are should I just purchase a motherboard with integrated graphics and if so which one or should I purchase a motherboard and then buy a separate graphics card? Suggestions are appreciated.

The OP is not looking to play games at 4k resolution. He only wants something that can display up to 4k resolution.

If you want to push a 4k monitor there is no way that integrated graphics will do it. You wil need in basic two big time Gpu's.
2 R9 290x's, 2 GTX 980's, 2 Gtx 780Ti's, 2 Gtx 970's any of these setups will do. The cost will be about $775.00 - over $1,000.00 depending on choice. That is just for the card's.

However, as far as I know Intel's graphic cores will only operate at up to 24Hz at that resolution based on Intel's whitepaper. As far as AMD's integrated Radeon R7 graphic core inside the Kaveri generation APUs I cannot say if it will support 4k resolution at 60Hz because their whitepaper does not seem to have that specific information.

Getting an A8-7600 or A10-7700k with the integrated Radeon R7 graphics core (iGPU) is likely your best choice, you need to be prepared to spend a little extra on a dedicate graphics card like the Radeon R7 250 if the iGPU cannot do 60Hz at 4k resolution. Of course you need to do a bit of research to see if that card can do operate at 60Hz when displaying 4k resolution.
