Hi

Im pretty new to system building and I want to know if this build is decent for high end gaming.
My goal was to keep it at or around a budget of $1,000 but give me something that can run just about whatever i throw at it maxed out at 1440. (And yes I do want to over clock, maybe SLI)

Heres the component list. Any help would be much appreciated!!!!

Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler

Gigabyte GA-Z97-D3H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory

Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5"

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 4GB WINDFORCE (Or whatever 970 come back in stock first)

NZXT Source 220 ATX Mid Tower Case (Not sure if GPU will fit)

Corsair CX 500W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

That is a good 'standard' $1000 system with all the right bits except, as TomThePotato has pointed out, the power supply. Here is the power supply tier list: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html You need to use a tier 1 or 2 PSU for this build. Since you may overclock the CPU and the GPU ican also be significantly overclocked and you mention SLI, 500W is too weak.

I see two choices. Buy a good, inexpensive (as opposed to cheap) PSU that will meet your immediate needs like this : https://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1550sxxb9 , and then replace it/sell it off when you need to upgrade and SLI.....

Buy the really good PSU you might need, in anticipation of future requirements like...

Mke sure that your motherboard and case combination will SLI two of your selected GTX970.
