Hi All,

I am researching for a build and currently having 2nd thoughts over the ASUS R9 280X Dcu II, due to artifacting.

I'm using it mostly for gaming and also for video editing and watching videos/movies.

For the mobo and processor I have the following in mind: ASUS H97 Pro Gamer with Intel i5-4690

I'm also not going to OC my build, so would the artifacting still be of a concern?

A simple priced item that i am considering is the MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 Gaming OC 4GB.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Sean

Same price seriously? That'a a complete no-brainer, the 970 wins hands down: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1037?vs=1355

PLUS, it uses less power in the process. 770s should be being phased out, I have no idea why it would be priced the same as a 970, even it if has extra VRAM (but still only the same as a 970) and a special cooler (which the 970 doesn't need because it's so power efficient).

If your budget is around $350, the 970 wins easily at the moment.

Thanks guys for the recommendations... after researching more, i am tempted to bump it up to the GTX 970.
The reason being that since i am planning to buy it on Amazon, i will like something more reliable to avoid the need to return due to a faulty card.

So between the GTX 770 vs the GTX 970, in particular:
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming 4GB vs EVGA GeForce GTX 770 Superclocked with ACX Cooler 4 GB
both are very closely priced. sorry am really new with pc components and will appreciate some advice.

As mentioned, i am not going to OC my cards, should it affect my choice in anyway?

Thanks all.

Sean

Hands down, the GTX 970, WAY faster than the GTX 770. Uses less power. Runs cooler. Runs quieter.

BTW, the GTX 770 (and 780 & 780Ti) have all been discontinued. Replaced by 970 & 980.

ONLY way I'd recommend a GTX 770 today would be in $200 price range and Only then IF budget was an issue.
