Help with testing a GPU

So I have recently bought a new graphics card as it was on sale. This will be for my first build late this year when I build it, so I wanna test that it actually works and there are no problems when I build my PC (just to prevent me being pissed if it does end up working). So basically, what should I do? Do something like buy the motherboard, cpu, psu and ram and plug them all together? I'm in a real pickle and don't know where to go.

Thanks in advance

The parts that I'm going with are:
Motherboard: ASUS Z97-PRO(Wifi-ac)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866 8gb (2x4gb)
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790k
PSU: EVGA G2 750w
GPU: Gigabyte 780ti GHZ Edition

Solution
If you want to test if a GPU actually works the you have to plug it in a PC and see if it is functioning properly.
If you want to test its performance then you can run 3Dmark or Heaven benchmark.
