Hi,
I have a Wireless ADSL Modem which is an access point as well. I have been trying to monitor Internet usage (or even network usage) of my clients via Wireshark and also Solarwinds. I need to see the statistaics as a graph per clients. Is there any other software which can help me through? I could not find this feature on Wireshark nor Solarwinds.

Thanks,

Your problem is not the software it obtaining the data to let a program analyze. A machine can only monitor its own traffic so software loaded into a end machine does not help unless you load it into all and then have some way to collect the data into one central machine. There is lots of pc software but game consoles or many pad devices you can not load anything.

What you need to do is place a device basically inside your router. It must be between all the lan connections and the wan connection.

With a all in one box that has wireless, router and dsl modem all in one unit you can't do it. If it was a non dsl modem there are some third party firmware options that might let you accomplish some of what you want but when you have a...

The only way you are going to get this to work is to buy more hardware. The simplest way is to run your current router as a DSL modem only, run a PC as a firewall/router/data analyzer, and then put a switch and a AP on the lan side of this pc to provide services to your end devices.

IF you don't want to use your PC as a firewall/router you could put a managed switch between the router/modem and access points/clients. Then mirror the traffic going to the router to your collection/analysis box. You still need to add access point(s) for WIFI but your DSL device could continue as your router/firewall.

What if I use an ADSL modem and an access point connected to the modem and broadcast the internet? Can I count on this access point and use a third-party application to analyze traffic passing through the access point?

This is by far the best solution. I do this.
An old cheap ($50 craigslist) PC in between the router and the rest of the network.
Firewall, monitoring, graphs, stats....
Everything flows through that box before it goes in or out.

It sits in the corner and does its thing. Currently running untangle, but there are many, free, Linux based solutions that will do this.
