I recently made my first build and it all fitted together just fine, however when I went to power up for the first time nothing happened, the motherboard powered up and displayed the '00' code on the readout and just remained in a still state. I did some research and ended up messaging ASUS about it to see if they could give me some advice about it. They came back to me about it but I can't really make sense of what they mean, I've asked for more details but I don't know when I will hear back from them and I've had enough of waiting around to use my new gear. Can anyone make more sense of this and maybe give me some advice about what to do (I am a bit of a newbie to builds so sorry if this is a really dumb thing to ask about and I make your eyes roll). Here is the response they gave me:

"Concerning your message about the MAXIMUS VII GENE, i would like to specify that the processor chosen by you requires the BIOS revision 0401 to be recognised by the motherboard.

I would strongly advise to try a processor that uses the default BIOS revision so that you may be able to update your firmware to support the I5 CPU."

MB: Maximus VII Gene
Processor: i5 4590 s1150

Thank you in advance

EDIT: Forgot to say, I have also tried putting the 0401 revision on the board but had no effect

Yep tried the first and latests versions of the BIOS that are on their website and it still doesn't start up. Strangely they just replied to me as I started replying to you saying:

"I would suggest to simply go to the retailer and see if there is a chance they can update the bios directly as you will then have another CPU in the household that just stands there, and it is not money well spent.

Contact the retailer and explain the situation, they should be able to help."

Guess I'll just have to contact Scan and see what they say... Unless anybody has a fix?
