If you go i3, don't choose that one. It's locked and not overclockable.

It may tie or even edge out the FX 6300 at stock speeds, but the 6300 overclocks very well, especially with good cooling. And most of the games listed in the OP will benefit from 6 cores.

- In this price range, stick with the FX 6300.
- Instead of the H60 cooler, go with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. It is better than most budget CLCs.
- Change the motherboard to Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P. Good 970 board for overclocking and supports ONE high end GPU very well. Just remember SLI or Crossfire is not a good option unless you go with a 990FX board.
- Bump the power supply to an XFX or Rosewill Hive 550-650w unit. IIRC they are a little better quality in this price range.

As for how will it perform...many gamers are getting good frames in BF4 with Mantle, FX 6300 @ 4.4-4.5GHz OC, and an R9 270x. Just check YouTube for a few quick reference videos testing this build. It's a good midrange combo.

If you are going to spend more, get an unlocked i3 or even an i5. Go Devil's Devils Canyon if possible.

For just a tad more, I got you a lower, but stronger than AMD I5 4440 on a future proofed rig, the H97's/Z97's will support 5th gen intel cores. If you are going to Crossfire down the line I got you a higher wattage PSU.

There are no unlocked I3's.

Huhuhuh dont know if my parents will agree with the price tag...ill try to get this one...

If not then I can cut down on the PSU, if you do not plan on Crossfiring I can get you a great quality unit for cheaper.

A bit cheaper.

If you can afford to fit it in your budget it won't be a waste. I use stock personally and it helps keep my temps cool.. If you can, get a hyper 212 Evo, it will help keep your temps even cooler and later on down the line if you buy a K series Intel processor you can over clock :).and they are also quieter, as well, the 212 evo is only like 30 bucks.

Alright, ill not take it out... how bout this? http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Elian/saved/VdTFf7

I use the I3 4130, but there will be some bottleneck with the 280. You can still use it, but it will hold you back in some cases. I recommend the quad core for the best performance. I use that same I3-4130 and I love the performance it gives me. If you plan to upgrade after 1 to 1 and a half years then go for it. Actually you can just stick with this since when the 5th gen cores come out you can just get a I5 5xxx. And you will still be able to get Ultra settings in games.
